Harvest the Dark Web

You can use Sintelix Harvester to harvest content from .onion domains on the dark web.

  • Chrome and Chromium do not offer the same level of anonymity as the Tor browser.
  • There are no rule sets for .onion domains in Harvester so you will need to create your own.
  1. Download the Tor browser from www.torproject.org and install it.
  2. Open the bowser and connect to the Tor network.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • If you know the proxy host and port number (usually 127.0.0.1 and 9150), go to step 4
    • If you do not know them, follow the steps below:
      1. At the top right of the Tor browser click the menu icon then click Options

      2. In General, under Network Proxy, click Settings

      3. Note down the SOCKS version and port number

      4. Close the Connection Settings window but keep the Tor browser open
  4. In Sintelix, navigate to Admin and select the Harvester Configuration tab
  5. Under Proxy, select the Use a proxy check box
  6. Under Socks Proxy Configuration, enter the SOCKS host, port number and version number as mentioned in step 3
  7. Click  Save Settings
  8. You can now use Chrome or Chromium to visit .onion sites and use Sintelix Harvester to harvest content from them.

Keep the Tor browser open while you are visiting and harvesting these sites.
